Do I need an account or a subscription? No. Rewrite, Docs, Keep, Meetings and Study are paid once on the App Store. Once Pro is a free download with 5 free uses, then a single $5.99 unlock.
I bought Once Pro and it shows as locked. Open the unlock screen and tap "Restore purchase". This uses your App Store account, so make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.
Where is my data? On your phone. Nothing is uploaded to us. If you delete the app, its data goes with it, so back up with iCloud first if you want to keep it.
